Landowners avoid property taxes and the liability of spreading disease, wildfires, drought and invasive species by contributing fertile land to stewards for carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur storage and sequestration. Such stewardship is a privilege and a responsibility. If auditors find that more carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur are being sequestered, or that those elements are not being stored because of fire, they may report that finding to verifiers who may update the value of your carbon credit to reflect the actual carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur stored. Please steward responsibly.
The landowner stewarded and protected the forest as it sequestered carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur for a long time and thus built up environmental credit. When you buy the land title, the validators register that land on blockchain as belonging to you, in your stewardship. That is an update on blockchain that decreases the seller's environmental credit and increases the buyer's environmental credit. That enters on the ledger the transfer to the buyer of the seller's environmental and/or social credit corresponding to the land's true environmental and social cost.
